A serene scene of a canal or river surrounded by tall willow trees with long, drooping branches and green leaves. There is a small bridge and a person walking along the pathway. The water reflects the lush foliage and the sky with hints of sunlight filtering through the trees.

Holisitic Therapy Rooted in Compassion, Insight, and Healing

At Willow Bend Psychotherapy & Wellness, I believe therapy is most effective when it honors the whole person. My approach is holistic, trauma-informed, and tailored to your unique experiences, strengths, and goals. We work collaboratively to help you better understand yourself, heal from past experiences, and create meaningful, lasting change.

Whether you're navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, addiction recovery, or a significant life transition, therapy provides a space to gain clarity, build resilience, and reconnect with yourself.

Areas of Specialty

Anxiety

Anxiety can impact every area of life, leaving you feeling overwhelmed, constantly worried, emotionally exhausted, or disconnected from the present moment. Together, we'll identify the underlying patterns contributing to anxiety and develop practical tools to help you feel more grounded, confident, and in control.

Depression

Depression often affects motivation, relationships, self-worth, and daily functioning. Therapy can help you better understand the factors contributing to your symptoms while building strategies to improve mood, restore hope, and reconnect with what matters most.

Substance Use & Addiction Recovery

Recovery is about more than abstinence—it's about healing the underlying emotional wounds, patterns, and stressors that contribute to addiction. Whether its substances, pornography, gambling, shopping, sex, or other numbing/medicating behaviors, we work together to identify and heal the underlying pain. I believe that these numbing/medicating behaviors are survival mechanisms you created. You can heal the emotional wounds and learn ways to feel your emotions without the need to numb and medicate. I provide a supportive, nonjudgmental environment for individuals at different stages of the recovery journey.

Loved Ones Affected by Addiction

Addiction impacts entire families. I support spouses, partners, parents, and adult children navigate the emotional challenges of loving someone struggling with substance use and other numbing and medicating behaviors while developing healthier boundaries, coping skills, and self-care practices.

Trauma

Our trauma-focused work supports individuals in processing experiences that have overwhelmed the nervous system and continue to impact daily life. We approach trauma with care, slow pacing, and an emphasis on safety, recognizing that healing cannot be rushed.

Treatment is grounded in an understanding of how trauma is stored in the body, emotions, and nervous system. We help clients reduce symptoms such as hypervigilance, emotional reactivity, dissociation, over-functioning and perfectionism, anxiety, intrusive memories, and shutdown responses, while building greater internal stability and resilience.

Life Transitions

Major life changes can bring uncertainty, stress, and emotional overwhelm. Whether you're navigating a career change, relationship transition, parenthood, postpartum adjustment, grief/loss, or another significant life event, therapy can help you move through these transitions with greater clarity and resilience.

Relationship & Codependency Concerns

Many people find themselves stuck in patterns of people-pleasing, overfunctioning, perfectionism, difficulty setting boundaries, or seeking validation through relationships. Therapy helps increase self-awareness, strengthen boundaries, and foster healthier, more fulfilling connections. This starts with the relationship you have with yourself, and we will work together to reconnect with your true self.

Family Relationship Dynamics

Family experiences shape how we see ourselves, relate to others, and navigate the world. Through a family systems lens, we explore relational patterns, family roles, and generational influences that may continue to impact your emotional well-being today.

Therapeutic Modalities

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR is an evidence-based therapy designed to help individuals process distressing experiences and reduce the emotional impact of past events. EMDR can be effective for trauma, anxiety, negative self-beliefs, and other concerns that may feel difficult to move beyond through traditional talk therapy alone.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

CBT helps identify and challenge unhelpful thoughts, beliefs, and behavioral patterns that contribute to emotional distress. Clients learn practical strategies to improve coping skills, increase self-awareness, and create healthier ways of responding to life's challenges.

Nervous System Regulation

Stress, trauma, and chronic overwhelm can leave the nervous system stuck in survival mode. We work together so that you can better understand your body's responses, increase emotional regulation, and cultivate a greater sense of safety and balance.

Inner Child Healing

Inner child work focuses on healing the younger emotional parts of the self that carry unmet needs, early relational wounds, or protective patterns developed in childhood. These parts often show up in adulthood through emotional reactivity, self-criticism, difficulty in relationships, people-pleasing, or difficulty feeling safe and grounded.

In session, we gently explore these patterns with curiosity and compassion rather than judgment. This deeper work emphasizes reconnecting with younger parts of yourself, identifying what they needed but did not receive, and beginning to offer those experiences internally in the present.

Clients learn to build an internal sense of safety, strengthen self-compassion, and develop a more secure and grounded relationship with themselves.

Family Systems Therapy

Family Systems Therapy recognizes that individuals do not exist in isolation. Relationships, family dynamics, and generational patterns often influence emotional health and behavior. This approach helps clients gain insight into relational patterns and create healthier ways of connecting with themselves and others.

Person-Centered Therapy

At the foundation of our work is a belief that healing occurs within a safe, supportive therapeutic relationship. Person-centered therapy emphasizes empathy, authenticity, and collaboration, creating space for clients to explore their experiences without judgment.

Holistic and Integrative Care

No two individuals are alike. I integrate evidence-based approaches while considering the emotional, relational, physical, and environmental factors that contribute to overall well-being. Our goal is to support healing that is meaningful, sustainable, and aligned with your values.

Healing Happens in Relationship

Therapy is not about fixing what is "wrong" with you. It is about understanding your experiences, strengthening your capacity to navigate life's challenges, and creating a path toward greater peace.
